York Fabrica is a company that was formed to concentrate on the residential side of the marketplace evolving out of York Marble, Tile and Terrazzo that was founded in the late 1940's. York Fabrica supplies the southern Ontario marketplace with a multitude of stone products for counter tops,  interior wall cladding and related applications.

Our expertise and experience allows us to provide consultation with customers, not only on the properties of the stone, but also the details on design and installation challenges. Some of the recent trends include, end gables on islands that create a design feature, extra thick edge details to give the new Euro look, structural requirements for extreme overhangs, honed materials, etc.

We offer an extensive variety of stone products that include granite, marble, limestone, quartzite, slate, SenSa granite, Assioma Jewel Stone and quartz (engineered stone). York has access to any and all stone products available around the world through our network of suppliers and quarries. If there is a particular stone product that you are looking for, we can source it for you. We also have the advantage of having a good relationship with all the major importers in the Toronto area. York stays up to date on what's new with trends in the market by attending the key "stone shows" put on by the quarries and by visiting the key manufacturing facilities around the world on a regular basis.

Granite
Most commonly used for kitchen and vanity counters. York Fabrica has a huge variety of colours and patterns in stock. Granite is a hard, durable surface, typically in a polished finish but currently there is a trend to honed and antiqued finishes in some colours. The Toronto market currently tends to use Вѕ" material with a 1 ВЅ" built up edge but other areas of the country use 3 cm (1 Вј") material without a built up edge. York works in both thicknesses but our inventory tends to be more of the Вѕ" material.

 

Marble
Not recommended for use in kitchens due to it being relatively soft in nature. Damage from mild acids such as lemon juice or vinegar will occur. It also tends to stain more easily. We have many colours and patterns in stock. Most marbles are more fragile than granite and therefore should not be used in most extreme overhang situations. Regardless of the potential drawbacks of marble, we do many kitchens, bathrooms and tub decks in marble of all types.

 

Limestone
Available in a wide variety of colours and patterns, limestone is used for wall cladding as well as counter tops. It is softer and more porous than granite but with proper care and sealing on a regular basis can add unusual beauty to your kitchen or bathroom project.

 

Slate
Varying from black to gray to greens, slate is an attractive alternative to other stone products and typically is in a honed or cleft finish. Again it is softer than granite and scratches show because they turn white. DYI refinishing of scratches is possible and the look appeals to many home owners and designers.

 

Assioma Jewel Stone
Whether in tiles or slabs this revolutionary product creates unbelievable style through technology. Made in Italy and using everything from gold and platinum to common river stones, it gives a look that has not been achieved by the competition. It must be seen to be believed.

Quartz
York Fabrica has been fabricating quartz counter tops for over 5 years. We can supply counter tops in LG Viatera, CaesarStone, Cambria, Hanstone, Silestone and Zodiaq. The recent announcements from the manufacturers of quartz of new colours brings the available palette to over 300 colours. Quartz is a man-made product that is made up of 93% quartz and 7% resin and colour. It is compressed into a slab that is non-porous and never needs a sealer. Maintenance is typically only soap and water. The manufacturers of quartz offer a ten or fifteen year warranty against defects which gives added value to the product for resale of a home. The appeal for most purchasers is the competitive price, low maintenance and durability.
